overweight and obesity

Obesity is characterized by an excessive accumulation of fat mass that can negatively affect health. Obesity arises due to an energy imbalance between calories consumed and calories expended, but it is very complex, and there are genetic, psychological, economic, social and cultural factors also at play.

Obesity is not simply a lack of discipline with eating and exercising. The medical community understands how challenging losing weight and maintaining weight loss is because of all the various factors involved.
